Patina 1962 Series 2a 88 Land Rover Station Wagon galvanized chassis swap and general refurbishment

This nice patinaed 88 Station Wagon came in from California as a driver with a rusty and poorly repaired chassis, rotten footwells, slipping clutch, and a very leaky engine and transmission.

Work included:

  • Replaced the chassis with a new galvanized chassis
  • Installed new stainless steel footwells and painted them to match
  • Machined flywheel and installed new clutch
  • Replaced rusted out Kodiak heater box
  • Installed complete new wiring harness including all light pigtails, and new taillights
  • rebuilt drive shafts
  • Replaced rusted out galvanized tub supports
  • New tires
  • Replaced unsafe home made fuel tank
  • Cleaned and resealed engine and transmission including rear main seal and all oil seals (complete rebuilds not in the budget)
  • Installed new hardura trim on bulkhead
  • Replaced rusted out under seat tool box with new aluminum one
  • Installed correct seat belt mounts and 3 vintage style lap belts
  • Replaced all roof and windscreen seals
  • Installed new bumper
  • Installed Weber carburetor and missing factory air cleaner setup
  • Tune up
  • General cleaning, tidying, troubleshooting and repairing any issues with the vehicle, etc
