This 1959 Series 2 restoration was started by the owner, and sent to Rivet Counter to finish the restoration and correct some issues, such as door skins that were warped by a sand blaster, an underpowered 200DI conversion, and painted galvanized trim. This project will be getting a full station wagon interior installed including door panels, headliner, roof panels, hardura trim, and some Dynamat where it can be hidden. The 200DI will be swapped out for an original series 2 2.25L.
Before detail photos. Note painted trim, warped doors, cheap Defender style lights, missing interior, unpainted door tops, aluminum door hinges, etc

What’s happening in these photos – Galvanized trim has been carefully removed, sand blasted, galvanized, and reinstalled, more appropriate series 2a style tail lights installed, wiring harness replaced (note photo of behind instrument panel is a before photo), 200DI removed and replaced with correct series 2 engine, remanufactured Solex carburetor installed along with other missing engine ancillaries, some of the Dynamat has been installed (the Hardura trim will hide the Dynamat on the bulkhead), correct brake pedal springs installed with sleeves to prevent rattles, turn signal switch re-wired, Smith’s heater knobs, catch, and decals were installed, reproduction rubber insulators installed in the wiper motors, bent radiator panel was straightened without paint damage, door frames were sand blasted, repaired as needed, painted, and had new skins installed on them, the driver’s fender top was replaced with a good used series 3 one as the old one had a nasty cutout to access the clutch MC.
Finishing photos – (I have not yet had time to organize these or type up a description)
